Attorney General

If there is a clear cut choice this election, it is that one between Kamala Harris and Steve Cooley. Yes, there are four other candidates but they are just there so the other parties could fill out their tickets.

It’s north (San Francisco) versus south (Los Angeles). It’s law and order versus recidivism. It’s social responsibility versus social justice.

Kamala Harris has made a mess of San Francisco. She has supported San Francisco’s misguided sanctuary city policy, which puts the city at odds with state and federal laws and the citizens at risk to migrant criminals. She oversaw a city drug lab that tainted evidence and resulted in hundreds of cases being thrown out. Under her direction as District Attorney, San Francisco prosecutors won a lower percentage of their felony jury trials than their counterparts in district attorneys' offices covering the 10 largest cities in California (seventy-six percent in 2009; remember that the prosecution gets to pick their cases so they should win a high majority of them). The best thing one can say about Harris is that she should have been a social worker.

The state needs an Attorney General who is going to uphold the laws of the state and the country, not a social engineer. Steve Cooley is the clear choice for Attorney General.

I am voting for Steve Cooley.
