Governor

It’s Jerry Brown versus Meg Whitman in a race to replace The Governator. Technically, there are six candidates but it will really come down to these two. Neither candidate has really expressed very well what they will do, as they both seem to be running on what the other will (or won't) do.

Brown has had this job before as well as most recently being the state’s Attorney General and, before that, Mayor of Oakland. Whitman was recently President and CEO of eBay. Whitman has defined Brown as a been there/done that, tax-and-spend liberal who has no plan to solve the budget problems. Brown has defined Whitman as a political neophyte who has laid off thousands while taking home big pay packages.

As I see it, the reality is a little of both. While Jerry Brown seems to have had a successful stint as Attorney General, he got nowhere as Mayor of Oakland and is better known for dating Linda Ronstadt as Governor than for anything else he accomplished. Where no one can question Meg Whitman’s success in directing eBay, it is a little strange that she wants the highest political office in California and yet she did not vote for twenty-eight years.

So who am I voting for and why?  My choice for Governor is Meg Whitman.  California’s biggest problem is the state’s bloated and misused budget. I believe her business experience will help her in dealing with the unreasonable unions as well as the silly state house in balancing revenue with spending. Jerry Brown just seems to want to push the problem down to the local level.

I am voting for Meg Whitman for Governor.
